Sion challenged Abel to a duel. Mia responded with...confusion!

Huh? I-I don’t— What is going on? They’re dueling for me? What does that even mean?

Utter confusion, in fact!

Her mind completely failed to wrap itself around the sudden turn of events.

S-So, Sion challenged Abel to a duel for me... But for that to make sense, Sion would have to have feelings for...

While she wrestled with her consternation for control over her mental faculties, the situation continued to develop.

“All right, then. Please get some more rest, father. I’m off to reassure our guests in the hall.”

“Very well. I’ll leave it in your hands, Sion. Oh, and Miss Rudolvon... I’d like a few minutes with you. Would that be okay?”

“Certainly, Your Majesty.” Tiona nodded meekly.

With that, Mia and co. followed an eager Sion to the hall, leaving Tiona with King Abram. The whole way, consternation continued to hold its ground against Mia’s offensive.

“Milady, are you all right?” asked Anne, concerned by her mistress’s visible unease.

“I-I’m not sure. I have no idea what’s going on right now.”

“Ha ha ha, I see that the Great Sage’s wisdom doesn’t extend to the hearts of young men,” quipped an amused Dion. “Don’t say that to Prince Sion, by the way. I don’t want him K.O.’ed before the duel even begins.” He shrugged and added, “It was a confession of love, in case you’re wondering. A pretty blatant one at that.”

“Th-That’s impossible. How can Sion of all people...? He must be up to something! I know he is!” Mia argued in a half-daze as consternation threatened to rout her entirely.

Soon, they arrived at the hall, in which Sion was immediately bombarded by questions from Sunkland nobles.

“Your Highness, how is His Majesty?”

“Has His Majesty recovered?”

“Who is responsible for this terrible act?”

He faced them and said in a commanding voice, “Still yourselves. His Majesty is enjoying some quiet repose in his chamber. He is conscious and coherent. I was told by the physician that he will recover with rest.” Then, he turned toward Citrina and bowed low enough for everyone to see. “And it is all thanks to you, Miss Yellowmoon. On behalf of Sunkland, I offer you our sincerest gratitude...as well as our deepest apologies for the discourtesy you suffered earlier.”

Following his example, the accusing nobles voiced their apologies in turn.

“Please forgive me. I lost my composure. My behavior was inexcusable.”

“We are truly grateful for your help in saving His Majesty’s life.”

Citrina favored them with a sweet smile. She was about to quip when she caught the sight of Bel out of the corner of her eye.

Reconsidering, she traded sarcasm for propriety and took a step back. “It’s okay. In a situation like that, it’s perfectly understandable for you to lose your composure.”

“Wow, Rina! What did you do?” asked an astonished Bel.

Citrina blinked at her friend, then smiled. “Tee hee, nothing much.” It wasn’t as sweet a smile, but it came from the heart.

Meanwhile...

“So, the scoundrel who poisoned His Majesty’s drink... Do we know who it is?”

“We’re currently investigating the matter.
